In the western regions of Georgia, where the climate is warm and moderately humid subtropical, subtropical horticulture is widely developed. The cultivation of subtropical crops, such as citrus, persimmon, feijoa, and kiwi, dates back to the beginning of the last century.

The best climatic conditions for citrus cultivation are found in Adjara, Guria, and Samegrelo regions. Citrus orchards cover 5-6 thousand hectares. The vast majority of citrus production, 80%, comes from the Adjara region, where up to 20,000 small and medium-sized farmers grow citrus.

The average annual yield of citrus orchards is 50,000 tons. 90% of the harvest is mandarins, 5% is oranges, 4.5% is lemons, and 0.5% is grapefruits.

Citrus and fruit processing plant "Agroeksport," is located 5 kilometers from the Batumi sea port, provides it with an advantage, allowing the export of fruit via sea transport/ ferries and enabling the company to supply Ukraine, Russia, and other countries of the Black Sea region in the shortest possible time.
